COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service has launched a new statewide alert system to notify Texans about agricultural threats. According to AgriLife Extension, the Texas Agriculture Alert System sends email notifications to subscribers when official agencies confirm cases of dangerous plant, wildlife or animal pests and diseases. Notifications will also inform Texans about quarantine orders issued by the Texas Department of Agriculture, as well as compliance agreements related to pest and disease outbreaks. The system is a collaboration between AgriLife Extension, the Texas Department of Agriculture, the Texas Animal Health Commission and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Notifications will include the date, the affected plant or animal category, locations and the types of pests or diseases identified.
